Living in Germany has given my children the chance to enjoy Kinder Surprise Eggs. We use them as rewards, gifts, bribes (I’ll admit it), and even Santa gets in on the fun at Christmas. This year, each of our children got a big egg in their shoe. (We do stockings and shoes to combine both our heritages.) The eggs weren’t the giant eggs that are available at Easter. At least, I didn’t find any super big ones in the stores here in Germany. So here ya go, folks. One of the eggs (modeled by our daughter, Lily) and the three toys we they got.

I found this article interesting. Sounds like a good guy – not a guy involved with a company that targets young children. Sheesh. Free the egg already.

Here we go again…
I’ve e-mailed the CPSC again. In fact, I sent the exact same message as last time. You know how customer service works – it’s like playing Russian Roulette. Sometimes you get a dud and sometimes you get a gem. Okay, that’s NOTHING like Russian Roulette because you can end up dead with THAT crazy game. But you get idea. Maybe we’ll get someone who can provide a reasonable response.
I’ve also e-mailed Choco Treasure. Yeah, that’s right. Rockin’ the Chocolate Boat! I asked if they could provide documentation that permits them to sell a product that violates the 1938 law. If they respond, it’ll be a miracle.
So – never fear, my Kinder Egg loving friends. The fight goes on. We’re still collecting signatures, we’re still watching the news, we’re still posting snarky comments. For the petition – timing is everything. To date, we have 1,466 signatures. We need to find a time when Congress isn’t wrapped up in insanity…does that ever happen? Or we need to find a Congressman we can get on board. Does anyone know a Congressman personally?
I hope you’re all having a Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah or a Happy Festivus or whatever you celebrate. We will be having a Merry Christmas with big, giant Kinder Eggs under the tree. 🙂

Have you seen it?
My folks are visiting us here in Germany. Mom and Dad told us that there are chocolate eggs, with toys on the inside, being sold at the commissary. They are probably the eggs on this site under “Violators”. (Choco Treasure). So here’s our request. If you see the Choco Treasure, or another chocolate egg with a toy inside, please snap a pic of it and send it to us along with the store name. We’ll keep your name out of it (unless you want your name credited to the pic.) We’re going to make a violators list of those stores. On the legal side, those eggs are breaking the same law that is keeping Kinder Eggs from being in the US. On the taste side, the one non-Kinder egg I tasted was vile. Talk about inferior chocolate! Why are we subjected to weak chocolate when Kinder Eggs are out there? So annoying…
